A 2 year-old boy was dragged by an alligator into the Seven Seas Lagoon near Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando around 9:20pm on Tuesday as he played in a foot of water with his parents and four-year-old sister.

The father struggled with the gator but was unsuccessful saving his boy. He even suffered lacerations on his arms while trying to pull his son from the gators jaws.

Around 50 emergency personnel have been searching the man-made lake by boat and helicopter, aided by sonar technology, dive teams and alligator trappers. Wildlife officers earlier today (6/15/16) confirmed that they had already captured and killed four alligators in the lagoon while searching for the boy, but none of them were the one that snatched the boy.

Obviously the boy won't be found alive but authorities are hoping to recover the body.

I can't even imaging witnessing something so horrific. My heart goes out to that poor family.

UPDATE: In the evening of 6/15/16, it was announced that the boy's body had been recovered.
