When it comes to fighting games there are really only two names: Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. After several changes to gameplay, style, and content of the MK franchise, the series had become almost unrecognizable. In 2011, Mortal Kombat promises to return to it's fatally gory roots.

#2.Mortal Kombat: I've never been much of a fighting game player but I've always enjoyed Soul Caliber and Mortal Kombat. The franchise has had a rough run in the PS3/Xbox 360 after a series of disappointing titles. The latest of which was Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (oddly enough both of whom have a game on this list) that had MK purists begging for more blood and violence. The usual amount of gore was scaled back due to DC's involvement in the game and to ensure an ESRB rating of "Teen". This proved to be the nail in the coffin of Midway Games but now the franchise is back to basics with it's upcoming reboot by NetherRealm Studios: "Mortal Kombat". The new game will be bringing back ultra-violent fatalities,  as well as several of your favorite characters and adding full 3D to the presentation. Returning Kombatants inklude: Jax, Johnny Cage, Reptile, Sektor(my favorite!), Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, Goro, Kano, Raiden, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, and newcomer Kratos from "God of War"(PS3 Exclusive). The game is due out in spring of 2011, which will seem like an eternity after you check out these fatalities.
