9-Year-Old In Critical Condition After Being Hit By a Garbage Truck in Burton [VIDEO]

The accident happened at King's Lane apartments around 11:30 AM on Monday (8/22/16) while the child was riding his bicycle.

The young boy was immediately rushed to Hurley Medical Center for surgery. According to ABC 12, neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the incident, and the Republic Waste company issued a statement saying:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in this unfortunate incident, including our driver who is understandably distraught. We are cooperating fully with the Burton Police Department as part of their ongoing investigation. At this time, we are referring all media inquires to the Burton Police Department."
