NFL Rule That Screwed Lions Thanksgiving Day About to Be Changed

According to the Associated Press the NFL’s rule that prevents coaches from challenging a scoring play will be looked at and amended by the NFL Competition Committee. As Lions fans found out on Thanksgiving Day, a coach who challenges a scoring play is charged with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike, conduct penalty which also nullifies the review process, thus the play stands unreviewed. The NFL’s statement also said that the method in which the penalty is handled will be changed and would continue with a review of the play. However, the league could keep the unsportsmanlike penalty too.
