New Yorkers continue to remember Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who passed away of cancer in May. To celebrate what would have been Yauch’s 48th birthday this weekend, fans have organized an MCA party and walking tour throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

According to the Facebook event, the tour kicks off at 9AM on Saturday, the eve of Yauch’s birthday, and hits 12 spots with significance to Yauch and the group. The first landmark is John Berry’s loft at 100th Street and Broadway, where the Boys played their first gig in 1981. The tour moves on to hit up their former apartment in Chinatown, the spot where the cover of ‘Paul’s Boutique’ was shot, the studio where the group performed on ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ four times and the Brooklyn park that could be renamed in MCA’s honor.

As noted by Brokelyn, The evening concludes with a party at the Overlook Bar and Grill in Midtown, starting at 8PM. All are welcome to attend, but the bar is 21 and over. The organizer writes, “Expect lots of Beastie Boys related music, fans sharing stories, and most importantly, good times.”

Yauch’s musical achievements and his humanitarian efforts were acknowledged by the New York State Senate, which passed a resolution after his death. Fans also gathered in Union Square for “MCA Day” in May.
