The DCEU May Eschew Linear Narrative, Feature Flashbacks and Flash-forwards

The DCEU has had its work cut out for it from the start. It had a little bit better footing than Marvel because everyone knows who Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman are, but it still seems like Warner Bros. is trying to fit too much information into every movie so that it can prepare for the next on in the series. The most notorious example of this was the commercial smack-dab in the middle of Batman v. Superman that teased the solo movies and Justice League team-up for a bunch of new characters you never see onscreen again. Apparently, in order to tie the next bunch of films in the series together, we might be seeing flashbacks and flash-forwards in the upcoming solo adventures.

Hugh Jackman Would Have a Say in Who Gets to Play Wolverine Next

By now, everyone knows that Logan is Hugh Jackman’s last go-round as Wolverine. It’s tough to see him go — he’s arguably the protagonist of the original X-Men trilogy and was always a welcome presence in the new crop of movies, but he’s a big star now, and Logan is a tone-perfect way to round out his career as that character. Now, the question becomes: who, if anyone, will take his place? The X-Men series will still continue for at least one more movie, and there are a number of spinoffs in the works, so Wolverine will have to reappear somehow, right?

‘The Cabin in the Woods’ Director Drew Goddard Working on a Mysterious New Project

Things are finally looking up for Drew Goddard. After a long period of lining up projects only to see them topple down, it looks like he’s stepping behind the camera again for what’ll be his second feature film. The Cabin in the Woods director just sold a spec script to Fox, entitled Bad Times at the El Royale. And so far, that’s all we know about it.

Sabretooth Was Almost in ‘Logan’ for a Scene or Two

Some wondered, when it was announced that a third and final Wolverine movie was happening in 2017, if this meant that we’d see another appearance of his frenemy Sabretooth (brought to life onscreen by Liev Schreiber in 2009). Well, he didn’t end up in Logan, ultimately, but there was a plan in the works at one point to have him arrive for a few scenes towards the middle of the movie.

‘Stranger Things’ Star David Harbour Might Play Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’

While there’s no official release date yet (although it’s rumored to hit in 2018), Deadpool 2 is gearing up to start filming pretty soon. We don’t know much about the plot or any new characters other than the fact that Cable is going to be in it, which is something we’ve known since the first Deadpool movie teased it after the credits. But as to who’s playing Cable, it’s anyone’s guess at this point as the movie is only just starting to round out their cast. A few days ago, Deadpool’s creator Rob Liefeld wanted Russell Crowe to play the part, which was probably just a bit of industry fancasting. But now we know that one of the names on the list of possibilities is none other than Stranger Things’ David Harbour.

Audiences Want More R-Rated Superhero Movies, According to a Recent Survey

In the superhero movie business, ratings have until now seemed like a pretty simple business. The way to get the biggest audience while also keeping in as much fantasy violence and perilous situations to stay true to the comics was to shoot for the middle ground, a nice, nonthreatening PG-13. No full-on nudity, no blood splatter, and relegate your one allocated f-word to Wolverine. But the times, they are a-changin’, and superhero movies are changing right along with them, starting with shooting for the more mature, edgier R-rating. As it turns out, this is exactly the direction audiences want them to go.

Rumor: ‘The Last Jedi’ Details Hint at a New Spaceship and What’s Next for Finn

When The Last Jedi hits theaters this December, it’ll be two whole years since we saw Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren, and the rest of the gang from the new trilogy. There’s no telling what kind of trouble they’ll get themselves into this time around, and all we have to go on is a mysterious recently-released official title. But that doesn’t stop the rumor mill from churning right along, and some insiders might have gotten a few new details about a brand-new spaceship and what a certain ex-Stormtrooper will be doing onboard. If you’d like to go into the movie knowing as little as possible, search your feelings and stop reading here.

Screenwriter Stephen McFeely Reveals How Thanos Comes Up With His Master Plan in ‘Infinity War’

For all we’ve seen and heard about Thanos as, like, the biggest villain, like, ever, we really don’t know much about him in regards to the MCU. We know he was behind Loki’s initial invasion of Earth, but the Avengers don’t. We know he wants the Infinity Gauntlet to rule the Universe, but they don’t. We know the little shiny MacGuffins our heroes have been picking up here and there on their adventures are Infinity Stones, but they don’t. Which creates an interesting situation when it comes to how all of this is going to be revealed.

Comedy Duo David Gordon Green and Danny McBride Plan to Do ‘Straight-Up Horror’ for the New ‘Halloween’

John Carpenter shocked us all when he revealed last week that not only is the new Halloween movie happening, it already has a director, a screenwriter, and a release date. The duo in charge of the project are comedy powerhouses David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, who are responsible for Vice Principals and Eastbound & Down, so at first it seems a little odd for them to take on a classic slasher franchise. But McBride revealed that they’ve established the movie’s place in the series and are definitely planning on some old-school horror.

Extensive New ‘Batman v. Superman’ VFX Reel Shows Us Everything That Was Never There

It’s no secret that Zack Snyder productions rely heavily on visual effects: every set involves green-screen, every shot it color-graded to within an inch of its life. Batman v. Superman is a superhero story of epic proportions, and as such required a ton of enhancements in post-production. A new VFX reel breaks down a bunch of key shots to show us everything that was never actually there during the shoot.

John Carpenter Casually Announces a New ‘Halloween’ in 2018, Time to Freak Out

No, this is not a drill. Paramount shelving the new Friday the 13th so soon before production was supposed to begin came as a somewhat sudden disappointment, but, to paraphrase Julie Andrews, when Hollywood closes a door, somewhere they open a window. As it turns out, that window is a Halloween reboot, which already has a director, a screenwriter, a studio, a release date, and, quite possibly, a score from the horror master himself, John Carpenter.

Pablo Hidalgo Explains Why Wedge Antilles Wasn’t at the Battle of Scarif

While Rogue One was peppered with plenty of references and homages to previous Star Wars films — especially A New Hope — the parts that got the biggest cheers in the theater from diehard fans were when Red Leader and Gold Leader popped up during the climactic battle scene. Gareth Edwards had used cut footage of both actors from the original Star Wars to fit them into this movie, and it was a very cool surprise. But we did have one question: Where was Luke Skywalker’s buddy Wedge?
