It’s an all-out war between Bad Religion and Bring Me the Horizon! Alright, maybe that’s an exaggeration… but the two bands recently clashed at Spain’s Resurrection Fest after Bad Religion guitarist Brian Baker posted criticism of BMTH on Instagram.

Brian Baker has been a punk rock legend ever since his days in Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. For the past 20 years, he’s had a fruitful career with Bad Religion, helping elevate the band as an all-time great. While taking a stroll at Resurrection Fest, Baker spotted a flyer backstage with a photo of Bring Me the Horizon. The flier read, “These people are not to be stopped ever. They may not have a pass. They can escort who they want where they want with or without a pass.”

This rubbed Baker the wrong way, so the guitarist shared the flyer via Instagram with the comment: “I’m going to stop these people every time I see them today and tell them how much their band sucks.” Founding Bad Religion bassist Jay Bentley soon chimed in, “800 f—ing bands today. How can we possibly make it harder for security? I know…”

Jay Bentley spent a few seconds arguing with BMTH fans commenting on the Instagram post before the band’s vocalist, Oli Sykes, stepped in. “You should of I could of asked you why you've been going before Christ and you are playing under us you sorry old wrinkly bastard,” Sykes wrote. “P.S saw you a couple of times & you said nada. Willy Woofter.”

BMTH drummer Matt Nicholls also added, “Hahah I can't imagine being as old as you are and still acting like a 14-year-old girl. Saw you at least 10 times and you didn't bat an eye lid. You got bigger things to worry about nowadays anyway, like ya pension, or cold weather. D-ckhead.”

Sykes followed Nicholls’ comment with, “Yeah, we are not your enemy, winter is your enemy.”

Bentley kept the comment section alit with, “...and the entire point of the thread goes sailing over the goalpost, out the stadium and into the ionosphere where it lies cold and dormant for the next thousand years.”

Finally, Baker tagged the two BMTH musicians and posted, “@mickeypickles @olobersykes It seems you've missed the point entirely. The issue here is entitlement. My post was a comment on your collective delusion that working local crew at a thirty band festival should be required to memorize your faces to spare you the indignity of breaking stride on the way to your backstage oasis or even worse, the humiliation of carrying credentials. Your literal display of arrogance (and the hilariously unrecognized irony within it) was what I was sharing with my followers. I honestly don't know if your music is bad or good - it's not for old people! I meant that you suck as humans. Sorry for the confusion.”

And that’s a wrap. Bring Me the Horizon will close out 2016 with shows throughout Europe, Australia and a show in Singapore. Bad Religion will perform around Europe until July 23 and will hit Quebec, Canada this September.
