A Bay City woman may become the poster child for watching what you post on Facebook, as her insulting comments about another woman may see her slapped with a two year prison term.

We've all done it. Everyone with a social media page has made fun of something or somebody... but when does it go too far? We have a feeling the outcome of the upcoming Kolka trial may set the precedent for where that line is drawn moving forward.

35-year-old Rene K. Kolka of Bay City, Michigan is headed for court to face felony charges on June 14th, after making disparaging remarks about another woman on Facebook last October. According to MLive, Kolka called an unidentified 45-year-old woman a "slut," and a "skinny tall coke head" on her Facebook page. She also made comments like, "We all know her skanky ways," and told others not to "catch an STD" from her, before posting her phone number.

The victim of Kolka's social media jabs reported them to the police last October, claiming that not only has she received various phone calls from unknown men, but that her career was also negatively impacted by the comments. The incident in question took place about two years after the pair had a "falling out."

Kolka is charged with -- and we're not making this up -- "unlawfully posting a message," which is punishable by up to two years in prison and a $5000 fine. These are crazy times we live in, my friends. It might be time to start watching how far you take your social media feuds. We have a hard time believing that the other inmates are very respectful of people that get locked up for something as ridiculous as talking s*** on Facebook.
