Beastie Boys’ ‘Sabotage’ Video Reenacted by Kids

'Sabotage' Remake
YouTube

The Beastie Boys released a slew of amazing videos over the years, but perhaps none more memorable than the one for ‘Sabotage,’ the iconic cops-and-criminals clip for the first single off their 1994 album, ‘Ill Communication.’ Now, in the latest tribute to B-Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch, who passed away earlier this month, a Portland-based filmmaker has reenacted the video with an absolutely adorable twist — he cast his two young boys and their nephew to fill in for Yauch, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Mike “Mike D” Diamond.

The original ‘Sabotage’ was pure campy brilliance, and filmmaker James Winters’ update takes that campiness and adds an extremely low-budget, DIY twist — and three adorable kids to the proceedings. The little guys run around with bad wigs, oversized sunglasses, cheap little suits and fake guns as they struggle to climb fences, jump in kiddie pools and gamble over Connect Four in what amounts to almost a shot-for-shot remake (except for the clown — not quite sure where he came from).

“Worked on this with the wife, kids and our nephew over the past week to pay tribute to Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch,” Winters writes of the clip. Considering Yauch passed away less than two weeks ago, that’s quite a quick turnaround. Nathanial Hörnblowér would definitely be proud.
