Everyone knows Ben Affleck has spent most of the summer filming 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice' in Detroit, but it's a lesser-known fact that the new Dark Knight thinks it's an "amazing city" that is "inspiring."

Detroit has become the butt of many late night TV monologue jokes, but it's pretty rare to hear an outsider defending it -- enter Batfleck. While on 'Real Time w/ Bill Maher' last week, Affleck took a break from filming Bats v. Supes to promote his new film 'Gone Girl.' Affleck and Maher had a pretty heated debate over "Islamaphobia" during the panel discussion, but tempers had cooled a bit by the end of the program.

During the "Overtime" segment, where Maher and the guests answer viewers questions after the program, Ben was asked to share some positive things about Detroit. He started by saying "Detroit's an amazing city," which was met with some audience heckling. You could tell Ben was not impressed by this and muttered some F-words under his breath. He also complained about the city being essentially dumped by the rest of the country, the water issues they recently encountered and finished by saying that he was inspired by the spirit of the people. Come back anytime, Bats.
