BREAKING NEWS: Elementary School Shooting This Morning in Connecticut

{Update: 4pm}  According to new reports, it is confirmed that 20 children, six adults (including the principal) and the shooter are dead.  A third weapon was also found which was a .223 Bushmaster, on top of the other glock and Sig-Sauer.

[Update: 3:30p]  President Obama just made a statement about the tragedy...

"We've endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years. Each time I learn the news I react not as a president but as anybody else would as a parent.

"That was especially true today.

"I know there's not a parent in America that doesn't feel the same overwhelming grief that I do.

"The majority of those who died today were children, beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10.

"They had their entire lives ahead of them, birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own."

Obama sighed.

"Our hearts are broken today for the parents and grandparents, sisters and brothers of these children and the families of the adults we lost.

"As a country, we have been through this too many times.

"This evening Michelle and I will do whah every parent in America will do - hug our children a little tighter and tell them that we love them.

"There are families in Connecticut that cannot do that tonight and they need all of us tonight.

"May god bless the memory of the victims and in the words of scripture heal the broken hearted and bind up their wounds."

[Update: 1pm]  As of right now a source on the scene is saying around 26 people are dead, including 18 children.  The suspected shooter is confirmed dead and thought to be the father of one of the students.  So far, two 9mm hand guns have been recovered.  All this according to Fox News.

[Friday: 12pm]  Details are still coming in about a school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.  It happened this morning shortly after 9:40 at Sandy Hook Elementary School.  A shooter was reported in the main office, and one victim has numerous gunshot wounds.

The Newton Bee reported that a police officer carried out a seriously wounded child.  Another report claims that one shooter was reported dead.  Some students were escorted away from the school by their teachers, but other students were still in the building at 10:30am after it was put on lock down.

Sandy Hook Elementary School is located is a residential, wooded neighborhood, and is composed of 39 teachers and about 650 students.  Heavily armed police are searching the area with guns drawn.  The superintendent says the entire district is on lock down as a precautionary measure.  A press conference is scheduled for 1:30pm when we hope to get more details.
