Buckcherry’s New Album Could Be A Rock Opera [VIDEO]
Buckcherry has entered the studio to begin work on their sixth album and early reports say the new material may arrive in the form of a concept album or a full-on rock opera.
Buckcherry are not a band generally known for tackling projects with an epic scope. In recent years, the band’s calling card has become party anthems like ‘Crazy Bitch’, ‘Too Drunk to F—‘, and ‘All Night Long’ — a trend that began in 1999 with their first hit ‘All Lit Up’. The band is currently working on the follow up to 2010’s ‘All Night Long’, which is heading in a very different direction than most would expect.
According to a report by Artisan News, vocalist Josh Todd has said that they are working on a rock opera. In their interview he made no mention of operatic aspirations, but he does confirm that the project is taking them into new creative territory:
“We’re just piecing together some songs right now it’s probably gonna be a concept record, for the first time for us…Can’t really talk about a concept [of the record] yet, cause then that would suck cause it’s way too early. It’ll be out probably early summer next year and I think everybody will dig it.”
Buckcherry is currently gearing up for a limited run of shows opening for Guns N’ Roses on their upcoming North American tour, then the band will partake in the ‘Shiprocked’ cruise for a week in mid-November.
