Slipknot kicked off their 2016 North American tour with Marilyn Manson and Of Mice & Men last night (June 28) with a gig in Nashville, Tenn. Still recovering from surgery, vocalist Corey Taylor took to the stage in a neck brace for Slipknot’s grueling 17-song set.

Slipknot’s tour was originally scheduled to kick off on June 9, but an unplanned spinal surgery delayed the Knot’s summer plans. After essentially breaking his neck without realizing it, Taylor took a few weeks to rest up and recover but still isn’t able to headbang or jump around onstage.

"Let's address the elephant in the room: I f—ing broke my neck,” Corey said to fans at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. “But there was no way I wasn't coming to Nashville to do this show.” Corey would later joke, "It sure is weird playing with this pillow on my neck."

Of course, Corey kept his condition metal, opting for a black neck brace to go with his jumpsuit.

Slipknot’s 12 postponed tour dates will take place on the back end of the tour in August. To see Slipknot’s full schedule, click here.
