Courtney Love Rips Billy Corgan, Dave Grohl, And Foo Fighters – Rock Fail

Courtney Love’s Hole (the band) took the stage in Brazil over the weekend and the notoriously opinionated vocalist launched into a tirade against Dave Grohl after a fan held up a picture of Kurt Cobain…yeah we didn’t get it either. Oh yeah, she also inspired all of The Smashing Pumpkins‘ best music.

At this rate we’re going to have change the spelling of “delusional” to “C-O-U-R-T-N-E-Y.” Courtney Love has a reputation for saying things that don’t really make sense, but her latest bit of crazy-talk at the SWU Festival in Brazil Sunday may take the cake.

According to Antiquiet, early in the set Love made an incoherent speech about The Smashing Pumpkins — claiming that Billy Corgan wrote all the songs on ‘Siamese Dream’ and ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’ about her. She also alleged that the lyrics, “The killer in me is the killer in you” from ‘Disarm’ were cribbed directly from a letter she wrote to Corgan.

Later Love flashed her breasts to the crowd (which is par for the course at this point), but the really noteworthy stupidity came when the Hole frontwoman spotted a someone in the crowd holding up a picture of Kurt Cobain. She responded to the gesture by saying:

“You weren’t f—ing married to him, I was. You didn’t get kicked out of a band by him, like Dave, he did. Go see the f—ing Foo Fighters and do that s—.”

How the focus of her anger turned from a fan’s somewhat ill-conceived gesture to Dave Grohl is confusing but not surprising. Love then stormed off of the stage with the band following suit. Minutes later their guitarist took the microphone and urged the crowd to chant “Foo Fighters are gay” in order for Love to return to the stage — which she then did. Upon her return Love tossed one last misguided insult in Grohl’s direction, telling the crowd, “I don’t care what you listen to at home, but if a guy takes off money off my kid’s table, f— him.”

Rather than analyze the history of Love’s past statements regarding financial problems related to Nirvana royalties, we figured it be better to just post the video of her outburst.
