Today brings a few updates on Nikolaj Arcel’s adaptation of The Dark Tower. First up, Vikings star Katheryn Winnick has joined the cast in a mysterious role, and given that the screenplay borrows from a few of the books in Stephen King’s epic series, she could be playing just about anyone. In addition, some photos have popped up from the set, giving us our look at what could be the official logo, as well as a couple of locations and some cool practical effects.

Per Variety, Winnick has joined Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in The Dark Tower, though the report is absent of any further details. The star of History’s Vikings could be playing a minor character similar to Abbey Lee’s antagonistic role, or she could have a bigger part to play — maybe as Susan Delgado, the long-lost love of Elba’s heroic gunslinger Roland Deschain. Who knows.

Meanwhile, Birth.Movies.Death found several interesting photos over on Instagram from The Dark Tower set in South Africa. Prosthetics artist Chad Waller shared a badge featuring the film’s logo — though it could just be the production logo and may very well change. He also revealed some sorta-NSFW pics of a very cool prosthetic piece for what appears to be one of the villainous can-toi characters:

Sonia Couto is working as an on-set tutor for a pair of younger stars (who are they playing?), and her Instagram post reveals a location that might be the Doorway Cave used by the Manni — again, that’s something from a later book, but it’s possible that we could see it in the first film:

The Dark Tower also stars Jackie Earle Haley, Fran Kranz and newcomer Tom Taylor, and is scheduled to hit theaters on February 17, 2017.
