Hannah Cohen, 19, had been making the same trip for 17 years for treatment of a brain stem tumor. This time the metal detector went off, resulting in a bloody scuffle with airport police.

Her mother Shirley Cohen said she tried to tell security about her daughters disabilities, which include being partially blind, paralyzed, and easily confused. It was to no avail, as moments later her bloody head was pinned against the floor. Hannah was arrested after the incident, and although the charges were later thrown out, the Cohen family has filed a lawsuit against the Memphis Airport, Airport Police and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

According to WREG News Channel 3, a TSA spokesperson says “Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”
