Documentary Captures the Sheer Hell of Solitary Confinement [VIDEO]

Filmmaker Dan Edge felt compelled to make a documentary about solitary confinement after Tom Clements, the head of Colorado's prison system was murdered. Clements was killed in his home by a former inmate who had spent a lot of time in solitary confinement.

I could barely watch this three minute trailer for 'Solitary Nation'. The inmates featured in this documentary look scary as hell. However, according to the filmmaker, many of the men featured in the movie are not hardcore criminals, most of them did not do well in the general population or have a mental illness. Whatever the case, this is one place I would never want to be. This film should scare you straight if you are on a bad path, at least I hope it does. 'Solitary Nation' premiers tomorrow night, April 22nd on PBS.
