One lucky person who bought a Powerball ticket in Lapeer will land the $320 million dollar jackpot. As some of you may have already heard, there are rumors circulating that one of our own here at the Banana was the lucky S.O.B. with the golden ticket. Are they true?

Everybody gets lottery fever around here once the Michigan Lottery jackpot cruises past $200 million. As if a measly $150 million wouldn't be enough. Hell, I'd gladly take $50.

The winning ticket from last night's massive $320 million Powerball drawing was purchased in Lapeer, not too far from our very own Tony LaBrie's old stomping grounds. The winner has yet to come forward, but all day there have been rumors that one of our own is a multi-millionaire. How did these rumors get started? Is there any truth to them? I'll answer both of those for you right now.

Where did these rumors come from? The Free Beer and Hot Wings morning show. The guys all live in Michigan and know folks from Lapeer, as well as this station. I don't know where they got their info, but earlier they were talking about how somebody at the station had won and implied Tony LaBrie might be the guy. That's when the calls and Facebook messages started.

Is there any truth to the rumors? I'm not sure yet. All I know is that Tony has been getting calls from local media outlets and replying with "no comment." Maggie Meadows is off all this week, so maybe she is our winner. It could be Fantone too, but he would've got baked and lost the ticket by now anyway. Chris Monroe is smoking cigarettes, but no more than he usually does -- so we know it's not him. Somebody knows something, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it! Check back later for more details.
