Ever wonder how many other Michigan parents named their kids the same thing you named yours? Well, check out the Mitten's most popular baby names for 2017 (and for the last decade) and find out.

Thanks to the Social Security Administration, you can see the most popular baby names by state for every year dating back to 1960. They'll not only list the top 100 names for the year and state you select, they'll even tell you how many kids bearing that name had recorded births that year.

Rather than just copy and paste this year's list and be done with it, I did a rough approximation of the most popular Michigan baby names from 2007 to 2017 as well, just to see if there were any drastic changes. For the most part, the popular names stayed popular, but there are a few differences.

The name Jackson just missed both this year's top 15 boy names and the 07-17 top 15, which was a huge surprise to me. Then again, I know of at least 15 people that spell that name with an "x" instead of the "ck," followed by literally any vowel -- Jaxan, Jaxen, Jaxin, Jaxon, Jaxun, Jaxyn --  I've seen them all. If we went strictly by the way the name is said instead of spelled -- that name would be #1 by a landslide.

Before you get mad at me for the title of this post, just know that my name is on here too.
