This past weekend, devastating rains blasted Houghton, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. I was aware of the heavy rains but I guess I didn't realize the true destruction it caused.

The flooding caused so much damage that Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder declared a state of disaster for Houghton and Menominee counties according to Michigan.gov.

I was on Youtube watching videos (which I've included in this post below) of residents who are dealing with the chaos first hand and it's really mind-blowing what these Michiganders are facing. The clean up alone is going to be a long road because well, some of the roads aren't even there anymore.

A specific website for this disaster has been created and can be accessed here for public information updates.
