‘Eat ‘Em Up Tigers’ Guy and ‘Dreadlock Mike’ Killed in Hit and Run in Detroit
If you’ve ever been to a Tigers game at Comerica Park, then you’re no doubt familiar with James Van Horn, who is more affectionately known as the “Eat ’em Up Tigers Guy.” Unfortunately, James and another man known as “Dreadlock Mike” were killed in a hit and run early Saturday (7/28) in Detroit.
WDIV reports that Van Horn and “Dreadlock Mike” were crossing the Gratiot Avenue and Russell Street intersection near the I-75/I-375 interchange at around 2:30am, when a small black vehicle failed to stop and struck both men, leaving them dead at the scene. The driver fled the scene in his vehicle and there is no information on whether or not police have any leads. There is a Facebook page for anyone who has any important info on the incident and obviously you can contact Detroit Homicide as well, at (313) 596-2260.
Both men were well known among Tigers Fans, in fact, Van Horn has a Facebook fan page with over 28k likes. He was well known for his “Eat ’em Tigers” chant and the Hulk hand he wore while doing so. There is also a fundraiser page to provide both men with proper burials YouCaring.com.
