Two of Kurt Russell’s most iconic movie characters are about to crossover, but it won’t be on the big screen. A new comic book will introduce Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China to Snake Plissken from Escape From New York for a six-issue crossover event that finds both of Russell’s classic action heroes teaming up for a wild adventure. And the best part? John Carpenter — who directed Russell in both films — has given his official approval.

EW has your first look at the new Boom! Studios comic series Big Trouble in Little China / Escape From New York, written by Greg Pak and illustrated by Daniel Bayliss:

The six-issue run received the blessing of John Carpenter, the legendary director who helmed both Escape From New York and Big Trouble in Little China, giving Kurt Russell two of his most memorable roles. The crossover series follows truck driver Jack Burton as he travels from the ’80s to the dystopian future of Escape, where he crosses paths with Snake Plissken and the two partner up for an epic action adventure.

Now, if we could just figure out how to get Captain Ron in on this action…

In any case, the series hits stands in October, sandwiched between the release of two new non-fiction books to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of Big Trouble in Little China: The Official Making of Big Trouble in Little China arrives in August, and The Art of Big Trouble in Little China hits shelves in November.

There are also remakes of both of Carpenter’s classic action flicks currently in the works: The long-developing Escape From New York reboot, and a redo of Big Trouble with Dwayne Johnson set to take on Russell’s role (on the screen, never in our hearts).
