A mysterious new teaser for an ad airing on the same day as (and presumably during) the Super Bowl shows Matthew Broderick reprising the role of the beloved American slacker who catches all the breaks and always gets the girl -- Ferris Bueller.

Who doesn't love John Hughes' 1986 cinematic staple 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off?' Hughes -- who passed a few years ago -- redefined the teen movie genre with several classic films but his most memorable character was by far Bueller. Now Matthew Broderick has appeared in an all too brief clip as, what appears to (and damn well better) be, Ferris Bueller.

The clip stirs feelings of deja vu as Broderick opens the curtains and asks "How can I handle work on a day like today?" while talking to the camera in his signature fashion (which was later borrowed by another lovable slacker, Zack Morris of 'Saved by the Bell'). This is followed with the date (in proper 80's font) "2.5.12" and accompanied by the most identifiably 80's sound bite -- the "oom bow bow, chicka chicka" from Boris Blank & Dieter Meier's "Oh Yeah."

The first thing the teaser had us thinking of was a modern day Ferris Bueller sequel (perhaps 'Ferris Bueller's Next Day Off') where he'll skip work to embark on an adventure with depressing BFF Cameron (Alan Ruck) and perhaps even run into the real Sausage King of Chicago. Then our senses took hold and we realized Bueller's next line in the teaser will most likely be "I feel terrible. Stuff head, runny nose, sore throat..." and will spiral downward into the most infuriating Dayquil commercial of all time.

Another rumor is that Broderick (as Bueller) is being announced as the new Priceline dude, replacing Bill Shatner who was just let go but made about 1 Billion dollars from his work there (not an exaggeration). Unfortunately this is one of those situations where we have to expect the worst and hope for the best. Cue the "oom bow bow, chicka chicka."
