It’s best not to hit the road in poor shape as most bands exert a lot of energy nightly for their fans. There are those who may go for a run, like Papa Roach‘s Jacoby Shaddix, and there are those who look for something more physical, like Five Finger Death Punch‘s Zoltan Bathory.

The guitarist is an avid martial arts fan and likes to keep in shape with a little combat while on the road. He says in a new video, “Everybody’s lifting weights and this and that and they have their own workouts and you kind of have to keep up on the road … Generally I have somebody out, like Joe Simon is gonna come out for three weeks. He’s a black belt and a great teacher actually and I have Chris Robinson who is also a black belt and he’ll be out for a few days and we always have these guys who can train with us. That’s fun.”

In a new video posted for fans, you see Bathory practicing both Jiu-Jitsu and Judo with both the band’s production manager, Bruce Reiter, and Mike Leonard, the group’s tour manager.

“I’m sure everyone has their hobbies and whatnot, but for me, it’s in the blood,” says Bathory, who also regularly competes as a member of the Royler Gracies’ Gracie Humaita Competition Team.
