For years we've been hearing that the at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Flint would be opening it's doors again. Well, after the Flint city council approved the transfer of a 12-year tax freeze to the Capitol Theatre's new owners, it looks like it's actually going to happen.

According to ABC12, last night's vote cleared the way for a $21 million renovation to the historic building. Uptown Redevelopment Corporation and The Whiting have teamed up to make the relaunch happen. The Capitol is expected to reopen in late 2017.

I'm really excited about this as I spent a good chuck of the early 90s at the Capitol Theatre watching bands like Pantera, White Zombie, Testament, Slayer, Dream Theater and so many more.
