As Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl took the stage to accept the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rock Video for the band’s hilarious music video for, 'Walk,' he offered up some wise advice: Never lose faith in real rock 'n' roll music.

“You know what I mean?” he asked the screaming crowd. “Never lose faith in that. You might have to look a little harder, but [rock 'n' roll] is always going to be there.”

Really, all you have to do is take a listen to the Foo Fighters’ new album, 'Wasting Light,' and it’s obvious rock -- the kind that’s gut-wrenching, from-the-heart, raw and deep -- is very alive and real. The release sold over 235,000 copies in its first week of sales and debuted No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart in April. That's the group's first No. 1 album in the U.S and second highest sales week, after 'In Your Honor's' first-week sales of 311,000 copies. The album also debuted No. 1 in several other countries.

Foo Fighters kick off a North American tour with politically-minded rock band Rise Against Sept. 14 in St. Paul, Minn., and on Sept. 19 the tour hits the Palace of Auburn Hills. Are you hitting the trek?
