Yet another member of grunge heavyweights Alice in Chains fell victim to substance abuse today at the age of 44.

Another sad chapter in the Alice in Chains saga as the original bass player Mike Starr was found dead today in a home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Starr had long battled with substance abuse and the fight was brought into the public eye on the Vh1 show Celebrity Rehab in 2009. Although details are scarce at this time Salt Lake City police stated that it doesn't look like foul play was involved.

Starr joined AIC in the late 80's and left during the band's tour for the album Dirt, he has been largely absent from the music scene since. His death comes about nine years after singer Layne Staley's overdose and subsequent death.
