'Friday,' the Ice Cube-starring 1995 stoner comedy that introduced us to Chris Tucker, is heading back to theaters on a symbolic date to commemorate its 20th anniversary.

'Friday' is a modern classic. It took what was great about the pot-centric comedies of Cheech and Chong and re-invented them for fans of urban culture. It was a dead genre that was revitalized by the low budget cult fave. 'Friday' was not only one of the best in its class, but also proved there was still a market for movies that followed like 'Half Baked' and 'Pineapple Express.'

The stoner comedy genre wasn't the only thing 'Friday' introduced to a new generation -- that was also where most of us met the hilarious Chris Tucker, who went on to star in 'Money Talks,' the 'Rush Hour' trilogy and pretty much nothing else because he demanded $20 million for every film he did. Ice Cube went on to do two more Fridays (and dozens of other things in both music and film), swapping Tucker for Mike Epps as his smoking buddy/partner-in-crime.

'Friday' is celebrating its 20th anniversary by hosting a single showing of the director's cut of the film on 4/20 in theaters nationwide. Unfortunately, no Flint showings of the film have been listed yet, but you can check for updates and buy tickets by clicking here. It has been said for years now that 'Friday' would return a fourth outing -- dubbed 'Last Friday' -- with Chris Tucker, Mike Epps, John Witherspoon, Ice Cube... pretty much everyone you want to see in the movie. The film has been stuck in "development hell" for sometime, but Cube remains hopeful that they will get it out of there and eventually bring it to theaters. At least we can take solace in the fact that, if and when it does happen, Smokey will probably be on board.
