Fargo Season 2 may not garner quite the same ratings as its predecessor (despite critical raves), and showrunner Noah Hawley seems to have picked up a few other projects in the meantime, but you can bet that another homespun tale of murder and mayhem is on its way. FX has officially renewed Fargo for a third season in our future, don’t cha know?

And while FX may have confirmed the news, as well that Hawley would be back holding the reigns, it isn’t clear exactly when Fargo Season 3 might bow. The first season aired from April to June of 2014, while the second didn’t premiere until October 2015, so it might be a stretch to fathom Fargo Season 3 in 2016.

Also worth noting, no plot details of Fargo Season 3 have emerged, whether setting or characters, though FX had this to say:

Year two of Fargo is an extraordinary achievement and, given Noah Hawley’s masterful storytelling, we can’t wait to see where the third, all-new version of Fargo takes us. Our thanks to Noah, Warren, Joel & Ethan, John and our partners at MGM Television for making Fargo such a memorable and rewarding journey.

In the meantime, Fargo Season 2 continues airing tonight with “Did You Do This? No, You Did It!”, leaving three more episodes to follow. What can we expect from Fargo Season 3, elsewise?
