Most apples begin browning in minutes, but these new apples resist discoloration for weeks!

They're called Arctic Apples, made by a Canadian company called Okanagan Specialty Fruits. The apples have been modified to not release as much of the enzyme PPO (polyphenol oxidase), which is responsible for the browning. According to Smithsonian.com, the apples will not be required to be labeled as a GMO food. Neil Carter, the founder of the company told Company Press that “We are selling it under the Arctic brand and we’ve had a lot of press and attention, so I assume most people will know what it is,”.  The video below explains more about the new apple.

My opinion requires me to quote the Joni Mitchell song "Big Yellow Taxi":

"I don't care about spots on my apples, leave me the birds and the bees."

Like seriously, who leaves an apple for weeks and comes back to it? Just eat it before it's brown and the problem is solved. Will you be eating the new Arctic Apple?
