If you are looking to get outdoors this weekend, heading to your favorite fishing hole won't cost you a dime this weekend.

On February 16th and 17th, fisherman of all ages and skill will be allowed to fishing anywhere they wish in Michigan without having to pick up a license. Just keep in mind that even though you don't need a license, all the other normal fishing regulations will still be in effect.

To top things off, all the state parks in Michigan will be waiving the normal entry fees that they charge per car to enter a park. There are also several fishing events organized for this weekend you can attend as well:

  • OAC Outdoors - Michigan Free Fishing Weekend. You can take the family and learn about ice-fishing safety and equipment at Outdoor Adventure Center in Detroit from 2 pm - 4 pm each day. Equipment provided.
  • Free Ice-Fishing Day for Kids at Camp Petosega in Alanson  this Saturday from noon to 4 pm.
  • 10th Annual Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department Fishing Contest on Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm.

With all of the bad weather and being stuck at home, free fishing weekend is the perfect way to get rid of the cabin fever and go outside.
