Safety has been heightened in light of the school shooting Friday in Connecticut.  Cass City Public Schools, about 60 miles northeast of Flint, have been closed down for the rest of 2012.

According to WNEM, Superintendent Jeff Hartel said...

over the weekend the district learned that a student made threats about "shooting up the school." In the interest of student safety, regularly scheduled classes from Monday through Wednesday are now canceled.  The holiday break starts early, and school will be back in session the first week of January.

Police have been notified and there will be a special meeting of the Board of Education to decide what actions to take against the student that made the threat.
