Despite selling millions of albums and scoring numerous radio hits, Nickelback have been the subject of much ridicule over the years. Whether you're a fan of the band or not, some stories are so heroic, it forces the entire world to take notice. In the name of charity, 'Relevant' podcaster Jesse Carey is listening to Nickelback's full discography on a loop to raise money for a very good cause.

Jesse Carey has been cramming Nickelback into his ears since Feb. 16. The man is only halfway through his superhuman feat, meaning he has three or four days of his Nickelback binge, depending on the actual hour Carey plans to hit that sacred "stop" button.

On Carey's my.CharityWater.org page, the audio torture victim writes:

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, 1,400 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand Filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.

Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.

Carey also peppered in some humor into the description:

Question: Is listening to this much Nickelback even legal?

Answer: To my understanding, most jurisdictions frown on listening to more than 4 Nickelback songs back-to-back. I have retained several lawyers in case some hot-shot prosecutor decides to press charges.

Carey's original goal was to raise $10,000, but he has since doubled the goal, having raised more than $22,000 as of this posting. An estimated 752 people will have access to clean water thanks to Carey's efforts. Interestingly enough, a donor by the name of Chad Kroeger has pledged $666 to the cause.

Carey has tweeted out some hilarious lines as well:

If you've got a few bucks to chip in, head over to my.CharityWater.org and donate to the cause!
