Sure, I love Hello Kitty just as much as the next girl, but this is going a bit too far. Singapore residents have gotten pretty passionate about a series of special Hello Kitty toys that McDonald’s started selling the end of May. The toys appear in outfits inspired by fairy tales, and the six Hello Kitty toys in the set were unleashed in phases. The final toy, a “Singing Bone” toy, created a real stir.

According to Reuters, hundreds of residents got in line to pick up the toy at the midnight launch event on Thursday (June 27), and police even had to storm the scene. McDonald’s ran out of the toy that day, leaving many without their precious fuzzy.

McDonald’s has release an official statement regarding the incident since, and the fast food chain stated the demand was well more than expected and it would take steps to improve its services.
