Joss Whedon Was Already Working on ‘Justice League’ Before Zack Snyder Stepped Down
The sudden and surprising resignation of Zack Snyder from Justice League, and his replacement by The Avengers writer/director Joss Whedon, raises some interesting questions. Namely, just how long has this change been in the works?Wonder WomanVariety
Here’s the full transcript of his comments:
We were saddened by the events that caused Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder to have to leave and turn the reins over to Joss Whedon. He was already working with us on some of the scenes for the additional photography that we’re gonna be doing shortly, and it was fortunate that Zack convinced him, and he agreed to step in and finish the movie, help Zack finish his vision, and we’re excited about that.
One doesn’t really want to pry too deeply into Zack Snyder’s very serious and very personal family situation. (Snyder announced earlier this week that he’s leaving Justice League to spend time with his family following his daughter’s suicide in March.) But it’s surprising to hear Whedon, who is also working on a Batgirl movie for Warner Bros., was already helping with Justice League reshoots before Snyder decided to step down. Will Justice League feel like a Snyder movie or a Whedon movie? I guess we’ll find out when the film opens in theaters on November 17.
