After more than a century, we know the name of one of the most notorious serial killers in history... and it isn't Jack.

Jack the Ripper still lives on in infamy, despite the fact that it's been 123 years since he took the life of his final victim. The identity of the notorious murderer, who was believed to be responsible for 11 deaths around Whitechapel, England between 1888 and 1891, has finally been discovered. After examining still intact DNA evidence on the shawl of Ripper victim Catherine Eddowes, Jack the Ripper has been positively identified as Polish immigrant and hairdresser Aaron Kosminski.

Not only was Kosminski's DNA a perfect match to that found on the shawl, he was also one of the chief suspects in the original investigation. Adding even more weight to the theory is the fact that he was committed to a mental asylum in 1891, the same year the killings came to an end. He remained in the asylum until his passing in 1919 at the age of 53.
