Kevin Smith Will Make ‘Clerks 3′ Before Retirement

As big fans of Kevin Smith, we were all busted up to hear that the man who brought us ‘Clerks’ and ‘Dogma’ was leaving the business after completing his upcoming two-part hockey film, ‘Hit Somebody.’ Well, it seems Kev has had a change of heart and will return to the “Askewniverse” for one last one last hurrah, that being ‘Clerks 3.’
Smith broke the news via Twitter shortly after his final film project — ‘Hit Somebody’ — became a TV miniseries.
So with the HIT SOMEBODY shift, the minute Jeff Anderson signs on, my last cinematic effort as a writer/director will be CLERKS III.#TaDa

Jeff Anderson, more affectionately known as Randal, has starred in a number of Smith’s films and will likely sign on to ‘Clerks 3.’ It will be a lot more enjoyable seeing Smith go out with the characters he started with than with a bunch of new ones.
Say what you will about ‘Clerks 2,’ but that movie was funny. Maybe it wasn’t as ground-breaking as the first one, but that’s because everyone had almost 12 years to imitate what made the original unique. It will be great to have one last go ’round with our old friends Jay, Silent Bob, Dante and Randal before Smith closes the book on the “Askewniverse” for real… again… for the third time.
