Kid Rock was recently given the 'Patriot Award' for his work with Operation Troop Aid, a nonprofit organization that supports U.S. troops. One of their initiatives is putting together and sending care packages to men and women serving overseas and Rock is continuing his commitment to the initiative this year.

Operation Troop Aid founder and director Mark Woods says, "Kid Rock is one of the most giving entertainers I have ever met. He really gets it. Last year, Kid Rock challenged his fans to help raise money to send care packages to the troops. In one short month, we were able to ship over 500 care packages just in time for the holidays."

This year, they are increasing that goal substantially. A message on Rock's website says, "This year, we want to send at least 1000 packages, doubling last year's goal, but we'd be thrilled if we could surpass that number and spread cheer to even more soldiers. In the name of Kid Rock and the best fans in the world, let’s make this year's giving the best yet."

The care packages sent to soldiers will include items such as toiletries, cookies, candies, headphones, Kid Rock CDs and merchandise and other goodies. The cost of sending a package overseas is $25.
