Next up on the Kids React block are the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers. Fine Brothers Entertainment popped some headphones on a bunch of kids and took them on an express ride through RHCP’s 34-year career.

You may remember some of these kids from the Nirvana React video and much like with Kurt Cobain, these kids can’t understand what Anthony Kiedis is singing about… not that we can blame them. The video starts off at RHCP’s cover of “Higher Ground,” so the rapid-fire lyrics and muffled production didn’t help.

Onto RHCP’s original work, the kids were introduced to the band’s most celebrated song, “Under the Bridge.” “City of Angels? That’s strange, you should be dead then,” one kid said. Most of the kids dug “Under the Bridge,” as they did with “Californication.” Thankfully, none of the kids seemed to get the pun. “California vacation?” one young girl asked. Yep! That’s what Kiedis is singing about! Moving on…

One kid didn’t like anything put in front of him. “I don’t know what it is,” he said. “Something about them doesn’t seem right.” When he was told Anthony Kiedis’ goal was to keep making music until he dies, the youngster responded, “It’s not too bad of a decision if you really like music, but I think he should quit while he’s ahead because his music isn’t that good.”

However, another young man saved our hope for the next generation, with his RHCP knowledge able to challenge even longtime fans. “I listen to the lyrics a lot when I listen to them and I try to figure out what they mean, ‘cause they’re all about something really different and important to him,” he said.
