King 810 made a few things very clear during their Dirt Fest set -- one of them being that they don't give a s--- about a lot things that most bands do.

Listening to King 810 vocalist David Gunn during one of their shows is pretty entertaining. Throughout their Dirt Fest 2015 set, Gunn revealed that he doesn't "give a f--- about selling t-shirts" or records or merch or anything, really. Not much of a revelation for a band of their ilk, but it's still refreshing to hear that the national spotlight hasn't corrupted the local metal faves. The band did, however, give their fans the hometown(ish) show they wanted. While we may not be in Flint proper, the sea of 810 shirts in the crowd made it clear that we were in King's backyard.

The band's usual intro music played, and by "usual intro music," I mean the string of murder-laden audio bytes from local news affiliates, that segued into the band's hard hitting 'Killem All.' I almost forgot to mention that their machine gun-toting stagehands were also on hand to help set the mood.

The band later dedicated 'Desperate Lovers' to the "motherf---ers" that didn't want to see them on that stage, which could be a direct at someone in attendance... or maybe just a blind jab thrown out for any of the band's haters. Who knows?

A few songs and at least one broken keyboard later, Gunn asked how many old school fans were in the crowd, and then played some "old s---" and joked that the new fans could "suck a d---" in the meantime. Nothing really sounds like a joke through Gunn's razorblade growl, but it gave me a hearty chuckle.

Leading up to their final song, which was the bombastic 'Fat Around the Heart,' smoke bombs were thrown, people were arrested, and moshing a-plenty ensued. The hometown crowd roared in approval as Gunn told them to come meet he and the band at the merch tent following their set... until he realized and announced that his cousin was arrested at some point during their set and immediately nixed that endeavor.

Say what you will about King 810's image or their music, but they definitely gave their fans what they came for... and possibly a piece of a keyboard. As someone whose musical interests usually fall outside of that realm, I have to admit that the whole thing was pretty damn entertaining.
