KISS’ Gene Simmons Plays ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’

Whenever we do ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ it seems like the more legendary the artist, the more fiction we’re able to dig up on Wikipedia. Did it happen again with KISSGene Simmons? Now’s your chance to find out.

This is easily the most bizarre Wikipedia episode we’ve ever filmed. Filled with strange anecdotes, some verbal sparring and Simmons busting out his iPhone to reveal that Siri calls him “My Lord and redeemer,” this episode constantly walks the line between informative and outright ridiculous.

Simmons recalls getting into rock and roll at a very young age, before he could even speak English. The KISS demon speaks about singing along to classics like Little Richard’s “Good Golly Miss Molly” by attempting to enunciate the song phonetically. Once the Beatles phenomenon hit America, Simmons realized it was okay to feel like an outsider and further embraced rock and roll as a piece of his identity.

Gene dispels one Wikipedia entry stating that drummer Anton Fig, who played on the Dynasty and Unmasked albums, was considered a member of KISS for one day. According to Simmons, Fig was never a member of KISS and it was decided between himself, Paul Stanley and Ace Frehley that the drummer wasn’t a good fit for the band.

Simmons even taught us how to set up a tax shelter in Australia. Gene claims to have purchased Australian football team Carlton Football Club for just one day. “It’s an old banking trick and it’s legal,” Simmons told us.
