Lapeer County Judge Charged With Embezzlement [VIDEO]

Lapeer County Judge Byron Konschuh was charged yesterday afternoon with five counts of embezzlement by a public official over $50. The crime carries a penalty of 10 years, or a fine of $5,000.

When I hear the word ‘embezzlement’, I automatically think of hundreds of thousands of dollars. That is not the case here. Apparently Judge Konschuh took roughly $1000 dollars. Regardless of the amount, stealing is stealing. I have met Konschuh years ago and I have to admit, I am quite shocked at this news. Konschuh is free on bond and is due back in court July 25th.
