Joe Long has been dominating the trenches in Michigan for years, and now he'll have his opportunity to try to take that domination to the NFL.  The 6'6", 306 pound offensive lineman has signed with the St. Louis Rams, with a free agent contract.  Long is a Lapeer native and a graduate from Lapeer East High School.

Long will be joining his older brother, Jake, in the league and hopes to live up to Jake's standard of excellence.  Jake plays for the Miami Dolphins and was named to the Pro-Bowl last year. If Joe can play up to Jake's level, the Rams just scored huge.  Considering they have one of the hot young quarterbacks in the NFL, St. Louis needs to do everything they can to protect QB Sam Bradford.  Adding Long to the offensive line should do just that.

Joe Long had an unbelievable career at Wayne State, starting 49 games in a row, and racking up numerous individual and team records.  Along with playing offensive tackle, Long is also a long snapper and has been praised for his high character.
