Flint resident Ryan Kilpatrick is working on the giant sign now in his studio, Whiskey Mics. Kilpatrick is the artist who also created the Flint landmark sign located in downtown Flint.

Not only is he busy locally, but he also has created one-of-a-kind microphone stands and stage gear for national rock bands including Three Days Grace, Pop Evil, Blacktop Mojo, Fire From The Gods, and Gemini Syndrome.

According to Kilpatrick, the clean welding and baffling (bent pieces inside of each letter), the project takes roughly two hours per letter. The artist did bring in Dalton Loff, Art Robbins, and Tommy Van Horn to help with this particular project.

You can see the progress of Lapeer's upcoming landmark sign in the photos below. I will keep you updated as the project progresses and let you know if a decision is made as to where to put the sign.

Where do you think the sign should go? Keep in mind the size of each individual letter. This landmark sign is going to have to be set up in a spacious spot. I already predict a lot of senior pictures, family photos, and selfies will be taken around this awesome sign.
