Would you like to play yet another game?

After a seven year hiatus, and a “final chapter” which is no longer accurate, the Saw franchise is returning to theaters this fall, with a new look and title. Here’s the title treatment as just revealed over on Facebook:

That’s right, it’s goodbye Saw hello Jigsaw(Funnily enough, this is also the title of my favorite Supertramp song.)

Longtime franchise star Tobin Bell will return as the title character, along with a cast that also includes Mandela Van Peebles and Laura Vandervoort. This was previously announced under the title Saw: Legacy (Legacyquel alert!), but adhering to the sequel naming trend of movies like Riddick and Jason Bourne, it will now be known simply as Jigsaw. Via Birth.Movies.Death., here is the plot synopsis:

Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one man: John Kramer. But how can this be? The man known as Jigsaw has been dead for over a decade. Or has an apprentice picked up the mantle of Jigsaw, perhaps even someone inside the investigation?

I don’t have any additional plot details for you at the moment, but I can guarantee traps will be laid, people will be flayed, and games will be played. (Man, how am I not employed as a Hollywood tagline writer?) As you can see above, Jigsaw opens in theaters on October 27.
