One of our local favorites are proving that hard work and perseverance does pay off. It Lies Within just returned to The States from a tour in Japan and while they were gone, my curiosity sparked a few questions for the fellas about their experience.

Lead vocalist Zachary Scott was happy to answer a few of my questions.

Andrea Love - How is everything going over there?

Zachary Scott - We are having an absolute blast. Words can't explain this experience. Things are going much smoother than we had anticipated. Everything has gone perfect to the itinerary. It's so awesome.

AL -How's the food / traffic / culture?

ZS - The food is definitely different which was expected. Some of the us enjoy it more than others but everyone has found a few different dishes to enjoy. Our favorite is the Beef and Rice bowls.

There is a great population in the cities we have played so the traffic is pretty hefty. Not quite as bad as New York city but a close second for sure. It didn't really bother us as we are just taking in all the epic sights to see.

Culture in Japan is so amazing. The first thing we noticed was how polite everyone is to us. They are very proper and mannerly. Also it's crazy how clean it is everywhere. Our host literally cleans his house everyday. Without a doubt we will be back!

AL - What about the language barrier?

ZS - It's a little difficult when shopping or ordering food by ourselves but we are lucky to have some awesome hosts. Wakita and Yousuke are the coolest dudes ever. We are the 13th tour they have hosted and they are very organized. They even helped write out cue cards for onstage and greetings. It was a tad difficult at first but an amazing experience to learn the language. We even learned funny words for a good laugh.

AL - What are the crowds and venues like in Japan?

ZS - The venues are similar to the ones in USA but they buildings are stacked on each other with lots of different floors. We are very thankful for elevators. The sound systems and lighting are amazing. The fans in Japan are so die hard. It was surreal to see how many fans we had in Japan. Every show has been packed with fans singing along to our more popular songs "Reap What You Sow" and "Home is Where the Heart is." We already have tons of demand to come back next year. It's insane lol.

We will be returning to the states for a final two week tour heading back home to The Machine Shop on Nov. 8th. Let's bring it home Flint-town.
