Local Police Warn Residents of Phone Scam

Well, it looks like another phone scam is going around and Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell says to not fall for it.

According to ABC12, the caller is claiming to work for the Genesee County Sheriff or Prosecutors Office and they say you may have outstanding warrants or fines that must be paid or you'll be arrested.

The Sheriff also says that these douchebags (my word, not his) are so bold that they've used two current employee names, a lieutenant and a deputy, and they have cloned current numbers too.

Whatever you do, don't fall for this crap. Don't ever give out your personal information to anyone that calls your phone. The best thing to do is just don't answer unknown calls that you don't recognize (at least that's how I play it safe).

Call the Genesee County Sheriff's Department directly if you get a call, do not panic.
