Marilyn Manson Drops Short Film ‘Born Villain’ Directed By Shia LaBeouf
The unlikely pairing of Marilyn Manson and Transformer-boy Shia LaBeouf was one we expected to yield a commercially friendly product — we’ve never been more wrong. The 6 and half minute short, originally believed to be a documentary, features the new single from Manson’s upcoming album. Antiquiet reports that LaBeouf drew his inspiration from a theatrical legend:
“The song has all these references to ‘Macbeth’ and all this Shakespeare and heavy theology, so we tried to make Manson’s ‘Un Chien Andalou’ macabre ‘Macbeth’ — that’s sort of what that became.”
You could’ve put “macabre” in all caps — this Kubrickian video features some of Manson’s darkest imagery yet. Ingredients include an abundance of full-frontal nudity, people getting their brains blown out, and a particularly uncomfortable scene involving a woman’s cheek and a needle.
