So long, fellow dollar menunaires. It was a good run while it lasted.

After decades of sandbagging, 2015 was the year that McDonald's finally played that ace-in-the-hole that is the all day breakfast menu. Despite some minor complaints over what is and, more importantly, isn't included on the menu, the whole thing has gone over pretty well and the Mickey D's faithful are once again seeking nourishment in the house that Ronnie built... which makes it the perfect time to get rid of a beloved feature.

According to Fortune, McDonald's will bid adieu to the dollar menu after 14 years. While many of its items have been altered, or altogether removed -- the dollar menu has remained one of the most frequented parts of the menu board. On January 4th, 2016 all of that comes to an end. McDonald's is throwing out the dollar menu like yesterday's filet-o-fish and will replace it with the "MyPick 2" menu.

What is the "MyPick 2" menu? That's a good question. The funny thing is it sounds like the dollar menu with a 2-drink-minimum-type of policy. Reports say that you can still get a McDouble for $1, provided that you get another item from the MyPick 2 menu with it. Now I'm no math doctor, but two items at the price of $1 costs $2 total -- hence the name "MyPick 2." Other reported items in the 2 for 2 lineup include the McChicken, small fries, and mozzarella sticks. I couldn't help but notice the 4 piece Mcnugget was conspicuously absent from the list and I am not lovin' that.

The MyPick 2 is really just the next phase of the ever-evolving Dollar Menu. Well-seasoned dollar menunaires can spin you tales of "The Great McDouble-Double Cheeseburger Switcharoo Crisis of 2008" and the recent addition of slightly higher-priced items and the subsequent re-branding of the menu as "Dollar Menu and More." The dollar menu will be this generation's version of Baby Boomers' "I remember when they had 19-cent cheeseburgers" yarn.
