A Michigan couple is in some trouble this week after law enforcement stumbled upon a “mentally challenged” man locked inside of a cage in their house. Now, while some people feel it is necessary to display their retarded relatives like monkeys at the local zoo, the Huron County Sheriff’s Department argues that this tactic is inhumane and against the law, and you should not do it – FYI.

Unfortunately, no one informed this Paris Township couple of the rules for taming the wild-eyed manner of a person with an intellectual disability, said Deputy Steve Bismark, who was called out to their home over the weekend in response to a domestic dispute. However, when Bismark arrived, he said he was more concerned about the 19-year-old mentally disabled man caged up like an animal than he was over a possible squabble.

Soon, the Department of Human Services was beating down the door in order to take the couple’s caged relative to a safer place. Yet, strangely, the two adults were not arrested until later the next day, due to special circumstances.
